Today is my birthday and I am so warmed by the heartfelt wishes of so many people I love. I don’t feel 63. What is the quote? “It’s weird being the same age as old people”. Ha ha. Wyatt and I are just outside of Liverpool at the moment – our team from Stillwater, OK just arrived and we get started with the mission tomorrow! So, resting today is nice.
As I reflect back on the years of my life, I realize that it has been simply a sequence of days, one after the other. I hope I’ve chosen to live those days well, following the God I serve and loving others. And the most outstanding reflection is that God is good and has made a way for us. He takes care of His people and provides all, and often more, than we need. Psalm 37:25 says this: “I have been young, and now I am old, yet I have NEVER seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging (for) bread.” (NIV – emphasis mine). Make no mistake, I am not claiming to have any goodness or righteous in myself. It is all because of the righteousness of Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection, that I can stand here today, saying that I have seen “the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Psalm 27:13. Indeed, I would despair if not for seeing His constant, indescribable goodness every day of my life.
Whether you are young, or advancing in years, please know that God is faithful. He can be trusted. He WANTS us to trust Him and follow Him all the days of our lives. Need help? Ask Him to help you and He will. He’s only a prayer away.
Until next time, Vicki
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Matthew 6:26-27
